| What a cute pair, who would have thought that the mare had a dark side? | When they first started showing. It was speedy Gonzales and the whirling dervish. | Patience and hard work brought a young girl and a horse who had 'issues' together as Champions. You need only imagine. | There once was a Half-Arabian mare named Sultan's Jeanne +/ had a wonderful show record but had developed some very bad habits. She wouldn't walk and would spin and rear in the show ring. The original trainer emphasized "If Jeanne doesn't like showing at a certain place, you might as well go back to the stalls because you will have nothing but trouble." No words were ever so accurate. Hence she was for sale. There once was a young girl who fell in love with the big horse and knew nothing about riding saddleseat. With patience and a lot of walking, Bill was able to get Jeanne to walk again and Emma, learned to control the spinning. The pair went through some frustrating times but all with a happy ending. In July, at Emma's first Youth Nationals, they went National Top Ten in Native Costume. Not bad for a mare that wouldn't walk or stay on the ground. |
